Diseases and Conditions and
Their Treatment and Therapies

Acne

Acne results from a complex interaction between hormones, bacteria, inflammation cells, and the pores becoming clogged. Mostly affecting teens and young adults, acne can also occur in younger children and can even affect babies.

Treatment and Therapies

At 901 SkinMD our doctors will help you regain clear skin. There are numerous treatments for acne, from gentle washes, diet changes, and mild topical preparations, all the way up to more powerful light treatments and oral medications. We help guide the choice of the best treatment on a patient-by-patient basis taking into account many factors so that everyone is comfortable with the plan. We follow up closely to ensure that the treatments are working, and doing so safely. Book an appointment online through the patient portal or call the office.

Eczema

Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is a condition that makes your skin red and itchy. It's common in children but can occur at any age. Atopic dermatitis is long lasting (chronic) and tends to flare periodically. It may be accompanied by asthma or hay fever.

Treatment and Therapies

Treatments and self-care measures can relieve itching and prevent new outbreaks. For example, it helps to avoid harsh soaps, moisturize your skin regularly, and apply medicated creams or ointments. Our board-certified dermatologist can help you gain control over eczema and improve your skin’s health. Book an appointment online or call the office today to learn more.

Moles

Moles, or nevi, are pigmented lesions on the skin. They occur on sun exposed skin, but may also be found on areas such as the scalp or soles of the feet. Some moles may transform into melanoma, so it is important to monitor your moles and have them checked regularly by a dermatologist. This risk is higher if you have an extensive sun exposure history or use a tanning bed.

Treatment and Therapies

If you have a spot which you want removed or are worried about, or if you need a skin exam, please book an appointment online or call our office and one of our doctors will assist you. If you do have an increased risk, most doctors recommend you come in for skin exams more often than once per year.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder that causes areas of thickened, inflamed, red skin, often covered with silvery scales. Children and adolescents can develop psoriasis, but it occurs primarily in adults. Women and men are equally affected. Psoriasis is not an infection, and it is not contagious. Genetics, environment and behavior may cause psoriasis.

Treatment and Therapies

There are a number of drugs and treatments that can relieve and control psoriasis. Dermatologists use creams, oral medications and UV light to treat psoriasis. Our board-certified physicians can help you keep it under control and regain beautiful skin. Schedule a consultation online or call the office today to find out which treatment is right for you.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic but treatable condition usually presenting as flushing or redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead that may come and go. Over time redness may persist, and visible blood vessels may appear. Although rosacea may develop in many ways and at any age, patient surveys indicate that it typically begins any time after age 30 in light-skinned patients.

Treatment and Therapies

Treatments such as antibiotics or anti-acne medications can control and reduce symptoms. Left untreated, it tends to worsen over time.

Skin Cancer

Skin cancer becomes more common as you age, but can affect people of any age. Skin cancer is one of the most common and most treatable cancers, especially when caught early.
